In Europe the risk of collision of the Bearded Vulture with power lines has been documented by the discovery of several dead birds.
In Corsica this risk also exists, and it is in this context that LIFE GYPRESCUE and EDF S.E.I. have proceeded to secure a medium voltage line, identified with the PNRC, by placing Firefly beacons by drone.
On 18 November 2022, the lammergeier Sulana (released in Lozzi in June 2022) flies over the medium voltage power line equipped with Firefly (anti-collision) visualization devices by drone in June 2022 by EDF-SEI in the framework of the LIFE GYPRESCUE project.
